Resources for staff (the employer)

When hiring a new faculty member, approval must be obtained from the Vice-President, Academic & Provost after authorization from the Dean to advertise the vacancy. When a candidate is identified, a letter of offer (with tenure or probationary/definite term appointment) must be sent. Be sure to include the WatPort Comment Card with the letter. This will provide a brief listing of what services the WatPort Office can offer to the new faculty and their family when relocating to the Waterloo area. A more comprehensive package of information will be sent after the Letter of Offer is signed (accepted) and returned.

Once the offer has been accepted and your department is ready to start the paperwork to bring the foriegn new faculty to Waterloo, a step-by-step guide has been developed to assist staff in completing the HRSDC application forms pertaining to a work permit. Another guide has also been developed for such occassions when a re-appointment for a foreign academic requires an extension of their work permit.
